Mars from 30th Jan

A bit late with this. I made a very rough graphite (B&W) sketch on 30th January, and I transferred the sketch to a blackboard using white chalk. I then photographed it and reproduced the colours in photoshop. So, it's gone through a few steps from eyepiece to .jpg, but I think it's still a good representation of what I saw.

It was my first observation of Mars in two years, and I was really impressed at how much detail I could see this time. I distincly remember trying and failing to pull out any detail in December 2007, but it was a much smaller disk then.

Seeing was good and Mars was high, so I could comfortably view at 300x. It really didn't seem like the mag was that high!
