Syrtis Major very prominent and dark in the south. Cleft of lighter material noted between Syrtis and the western edge of Mare Tyrrhenum. Two darker areas were seen in Tyrrhenum itself in the southeast. In the southwest Mare Serpentis and Sinus Sabeaus seen extending to the western limb. Hellas did not stand out at all.

In the north Boreosyrtis was very prominent. Light shaded areas seemed to extend from Boreosyrtis at different angles into the space either side of Syrtis Major. The shading that extended towards the western limb was at a flatter angle.

On the NPC itself there seemed to be a small dark nodule of material eating into the ice beneath Boreosyrtis.
