Horizon ajustment for NG 76 AZ

Hello,

I have been given a National Geographic NG76AZ Telescope which I wish to use for Terrestrial viewing. The trouble is that the horizon is about 40 degrees to the horizontal and there doesn't appear to be any way of adjusting it.

Any ideas please?

Is your telescope a refractor or a reflector? Do you mean when you look through the eyepiece the horizon is not horizontal? If your telescope is a reflector on an az mount this view is normal because the focusser and secondary are at an angle to the horizontal.

I think it is a newtonian reflector and therefore, as Peter says, it's supposed to be that way. To be honest it's not designed for terrestial use - you can't rotate the tube on that model as it's fixed in a tripod yoke.

Thank you both, I think you have answered my question. I guess I am just going to have to put up with a non horizontal horizon, although it will probably take some while to get used to ships sailing up and downhill!!
