Registax & Mars

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Can anyone tell me, preferably in plain English, what the different Quality settings mean in Registax. I mean the Classic, Human, Compress, Local Contrast, Gradient, Gradient 2 and BlurDif things.

I had a go with each of the settings using an avi took of Mars last night and, as far as I can tell, there's almost no difference between the different settings! I used identical settings, with the lowest quality set at 65%. What's the point of them and what do they all mean? Is any one of them better for planetary imaging?

Anyway, here's the result. I've also include a larger version of the 'Classic' one. Any advice on getting a better image would be welcome.

By the way, they were imaged using a 200mm f/5 Newt, SPC900 webcam, 3x + 2x Barlow.

Yours baffled,
