Increased meteorite frequency?

Around mid-November there were 3 massive meteorites reported in Utah, Pretoria & Australia. Last week a similar one in Beijing and in all these cases they are now hunting the possible fall fragments. And I have just come across this about one in Peterborough happening in the past couple of days:

Seeing as the chance for a meteoroid to be observed by thousands of people in large urban areas as well as smaller rural areas is very remote (seeing that more than 66% of the earth is ocean and populated areas only a fraction of the remaining area) are these multiple reports in a short space of time due to an increase in their frequency? Are they part of the Geminid/Leonid showers? And how many more fall in areas where they aren't observed? And most of all when will I get a lucky chance to see one?!
