x magnification help?

:)Hi all,

Another little query...

I'd like to start keeping more 'in-depth' records - one piece of info I'd like to keep is my magnification i.e. x100, x200 etc (instead of my present EP +/- barlow:o)

I'm sure i've read a simple formula somewhere?

My scope is an 8" F1000mm f/5

If i was using say a 25mm EP what would my xmag be?

How can i work it out for all my EP's??

The formula is focal length/EP length = magnification.

Therefore, 1000mm / 25mm = 40x.
