Me and the boy saw an unusual shooting star/meteor this evening, about 10:30 when he should have been in bed. Started off (first spotted it) straight up and it headed north west. We saw a 45 degree arc until it disappeared. The disappearance was in full view and was quite quick, no flickering away, just kind of shut off. The unusual thing was that the thing had width, about the width of a finger at arms length. The big wide looking meteor, or whatever it was, was totally silent and didn't leave a trace in the sky. No clouds around anywhere in the sky so we didn't loose it in the clouds, it just silently came and went.

The head, or whatever it's called, was powder blue and surrounded by a steamy looking halo. Don't have any idea what kind of meteor it was, but they're rare round our way.
