Weird donut stars from DSS

I'm getting a weird effect happening with DSS which has happened before. After stacking, all the stars are coming out as rings, even though they look fine on the individual subs.

I went through the file list again, omitting any subs with trailing and re-stacking and the effect is even worse! This time the rings are larger with an extra spot in the middle - it looks thoroughly ghastly!

Any idea what's going wrong here?

turn off all the cosmetic options, hot pixel detection, etc

Maybe post up a couple to see what's going on?

Is it a scaling issue possibly? all subs taken at same fl?

Oh super - that's done it - thanks Steve! Last time I tried all sorts of different stacking methods to no avail but didn't think to turn of cosmetics - d'Oh!
