Nextstar 8se time setting.

Recommended Posts

Although I've over 50 years astronomy/telescope making experience, I am relatively new to GOTO's and computery thingies. I have a Nextstar 8se in Tenerife and have had some GOTO alignment issues despite reasonable care in setting up. Each time I try two or three star alignment it fails, but one star alignment using Polaris always succeeds and at least gets the scope driving. It has occured to me that as Tenerife, for convenience, adopts the same time zone as the UK, it is in fact over an hour later in astronomical terms. Should I allow for this in setting the time?

I would check your data entry. Confirm Lat/Long. Daylight saving off. Is there a city listed in the International list that is appropriate? The manual also gives Iceland time as zone 0 so I would have thought it can take this into account.

The mistake I made most often was to enter the date in the wrong format, eg d/m/y rather than m/d/y.
