HantsAstro is for anyone who has any interest in Astronomy who wishes to use this as a stepping stone into something more active across Hampshire or beyond.

As part of the International Year of Astronomy 2009, we are putting together a small roadshow of moon observing events, called ‘MoonFest’. The events are open to the public and are offered free of charge to encourage more people, young and old into this amazing hobby of ours. The plan for the events is very simple – we arrive, set up our telescopes in the allocated space and the public come along for a free look through one of the telescopes and invariably ask lots of questions.

This is our first MoonFest for this season starting in Alton on the Butts Green from 7pm. In April over 160 people turned up and was very successful and a lot of fun!

For more details and to download a poster, visit our dedicated web area, for other dates and venues.

If you want to bring a scope along and observe with us then please do and let me know and we'll arrange some space for you.

We'll have 10 telescopes of all types and apertures there and handing out free maps of the Moon.

We also are working in conjunction with the French Horn Pub, who will be serving hot food and beer!!!

See you there!

Dave.
