Having had my first chance to try out my self modifed Canon 1000D I thought I would share some results with you regarding the IR mod and LP filters.

The following jpegs are "as is" no modification except all are reduced in size to make posting easier.

3 pics all at ISO 800 exposure 6 or 5 minutes each, the nearest I could find to each other. I hope later to add the HorseHead as a further comparison.

I have included 2 flats for comparitive purposes also.

No1 - 6 min - cocoon neb - unmodded camera + Skywatcher LP 2" filter

No2 - 5 min - Horsehead - unmodded camera + Astronomik CLS visual clip filter

No3 5 min - Cocoon neb- IR filter removed from camera + Astronomik CLS visual clip filter + Astronomik astro IR/UV filter

No4 Flat file unmodded camera CLS filter

No5 Flat file modded camera CLS filter + astro IR/UV

All taken with Baader MPCC in place with a 200mm F/4 Newtonian Scope

The Horsehead is my main target for this winter if the weather ever clears - mine's an unmodded 1000D so I'm keen to see how I can do with it unmodded. I've fallen in love with it as a daytime camera as well so I really don't want to mod it now.
