C80ED + SW Autofocuser

I've currently got the SW autofocuser fitted to my Explorer but would like to fit it to the C80ED. Can it be done? I have tried to remove the focus wheel but can't see how it is attached. I removed the Celestron logo from the focus wheel expecting to find a screw holding it to the shaft, but there is nothing there. Is the wheel just a push fit?

I have a C80ED with a skywatcher autofocuser fitted. The Focus wheel can be removed by twisting the two wheels in opposite directions until one gives. It take a bit of brute force though so be careful. I too pulled off the logo sticker looking for a screw! you then need to play with the various adapters to find the best fit, but once assembled it works well.

Thanks for that. I was reading your other thread about the problems you are having (sorry, cant help there) and thought that it must be possible. I'll give it a go.

Did the focuser wheel come off easy or with a bang!

No, not a bang more of a crack, but not like it had broken.

From your instructions I assumed that the wheel was maybe glued on, but it turns out to be threaded.

I think the threads had some sort of locking glue added. did you have any difficulty getting the grubscrews to hold the focus shaft? Took me a bit of effort but once on it holds fine.

No problems at all. What I should have done though (whilst I was at it) was regreased the gears. Maybe tomorrow.
