Simple question (hopefully!)

Recommended Posts

Hi.

I got a Skywatcher Explorer 200p with goto mount recently.

Figured out the setting up and polar aligning (I didn't realise I needed to do this at first hehe).

My 2nd attempt was last night and it just seemed to be 90 degrees out once polar aligned... I guess when I was fiddling with things to get the polar alignment I have to change of the dec(?) axis.

I assume that once I polar align it I have to reset it to it's home position... is that 90 or 0? :)

Not much chance of trying tonight since it's forecast to be 100% overcast though :)

Thanks for any help

one thing to remember about polar alignment. It is not really your scope that is aligned to the pole but the RA axis of the mount. You can basically put your scope under the bed and align the mount, then mount the scope and you should be good to go.
