Imaging with Luna

Hi all,

Any tips or hints regarding imaging DSOs whilst the moon is full or near full. I don't have narrowband capabilities so I would expect very poor results using an unmodded DSLR.

So is it worth trying? Can I process my way around the moons "LP"?

best not to expect too much when the moons bright.....but imaging as far away as possible and with good transparency....the slightest bit of high cloud makes a massive difference....

Without the benefit of narrowband I would be inclined to go for globs , clusters or asterisms...

Pretty much what I thought, thanks guys for the response, part of the problem is we've had so few decent nights and blow me down one clear night for ages it's the full moon.

Given loads of clear nights one could consider it a break around the full moon to grap some ugly as Peter would say.

Well it is looking up weather wise, I am hoping we don't end up with mist here in the Severn valley.... that p.......s me off.

Yea I will have to bite the bullet and at least pay for the filter mod on the canon, then later look at narrowband imaging.

I would do the mod myself but I am not the most patient type so best I get it done professionally.

Modding the 1000D is a doddle especially if you sacrifice the existing filter... you can spend ages trying to carefully remove it only to have it chip or crack at the last minute so i tend not to bother trying to save it...
