A sketch of Jupiter made this morning 9th August 2009.

Tak FS 128 with Denk II binoviewer and zeiss jena 16mm orthos x162

seeing 4/10 improving to 7/10 in moments.

01-25 to 01-45 UT

North at top, as seen with star diagonal,preceedimg to left.

Callisto was in transit.

Great details Mike, thanks! Were you able to see the ingress/egress?

Hi Carol,

I almost missed the start of the transit, as i was concentrating on the planet itself for a long time,due to poor seeing at first.

I decided to sketch after the shadow had crept along the disk and seeing had improved to make a sketch worthwhile.

There were very fleeting moments of intense detail but i could not hold them long enough to be sure.

I did not wait for egress, but the Tak did show its true potential after weeks of being unable to observe, so i was happy with that.
