Advice on new kit

I've had my current scope for just 6 months, and I'm already planning my next one....

It's all idle speculation because I'm not going to have the funds for a while, but I was thinking of getting the Williams Optics Megrez 72. Now, the logic of this is that I can use this as a smaller more portable scope on my camera tripod. Then, at some point in the future I'll upgrade to a HEQ5, piggyback by SLR and try my hand at some DSO imaging

But, questions are, would the WO scope be good start to this plan? Is it good for visual use as well, particularly on an alt-az tripod mount?

As I said, this is all idle speculation as I don't have the pennies, but all these clouds we've had lately has got me plotting....
