Here's a drawing made with a 4" refractor from France.

Nice sketch, how does the sketch compare to the scan you post? Can you get it quite close or do you lose any of the fine subtle points when it is scanned into the PC?

Also, was the impact event visible or has that gone?

Hi Neil, the original drawing is identical to the posted scan.

I was not aware of the impact as I was out of touch with the entire world in France when I did the drawing, however neither my wife or I saw anything unusual at the poles.

Wonderful detail, thanks for posting. Is the GRS showing any color? I haven't had a chance to get a good view this year. It had a distinct dark-ish tint when i began to observe about 10 years ago, but began to fade and almost appeared white for a while.

Hello Carol,

The GRS has lost it's colour and as you said it's now much more like a white hollow basin.
