Noctilucent clouds?

I had to get out of bed at stupid o'clock this morning (3:15 AM) to take my daughter to the airport. Whilst up, I looked out of the study window and saw what look like noctilucent clouds. I quickly grabbed my camera and tooki a few shots (picture below). Have I described them correctly or where they just cirrus clouds illuminated by the nearly rising Sun? (local sun rise was at 5:03 am)

Yes, very nice NLC's, notice their height compared with the lower grey cloud.

We had quite a display of these last night around 10:30/11pm.

Have to say, I don't recall seeing them as frequently in the past.

Are there actually more NLCs appearing, or am I simply getting more observant?

Probably both .... but last night's was a real stonker!
