HDR Astrophotography

Recommended Posts

Just a thought, I have started playing around with some HDR (High Dynamic Range) photography and was wondering if anyone has tried doing this for astrophotography to gain a higher dynamic range in their photos? Would it even work?

Phantom

Hi

People usually use this technique on targets with very bright and very faint details.

Something like M42 for example.

Short exposures are taken for the core, whilst long exposures are taken for the faint areas.

Then using PS and layer masks an image can be built up to show the full range of details using the different length exposures.
