Some advice on my meade ds mount plz

Hi all, I need some advice on how to stable the cradle part of the alt/az mount which hold the scope. The scope is really good and return some lovely views, but my problem is the mount part.

The mount has a lot of play in the up/down part of the mount. The play is not to bad if you dont go above say 30 %, but anymore and if you rest on the eyepiece, it will lose the object and focusing, the object is really all over the place in the eyepiece.

I have tried removing the motor and gears and tighten up everything, but the problem is the thread bar seems to have a lot of movement. It was frustating tonight as I could not get a very good try as everytime I focused the scope would move.
