Collimation, how not to do it!

I thought I would check out the collimation of my 10" SNT, as an F/4 it needs to be spot on. Now 2 days ago it was nice but I think I had overtightened the lock screws so with Cheshire in hand I started the proceedure.

Taking the first look it was miles, nay light years out :), how so??

Made adjustments to the collimating screws no noticeable effect eh!! Lots of fiddling/adjusting for 20 minutes or so still same horrible mirror offset. :)

Then thanks to all the gods of the heavens I noticed the 2" to 1.25" reducer ring in the focuser was squint, really squint, 2 minutes later job done. Pheeeew
