First proper night of observing, minus the gear..

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys,

Well, its a long weekend for us UK folk this weekend, so I'm thinking of taking one night out to get some good observing in.

Unfortunately payday hasn't come yet so I will be going armed with nothing more than a flask of hot tea and my trusty "sky at night - may" star map.

I imagine I can get a few miles out into the suffolk/essex countryside, so shouldn't be too much light pollution.

Of course, I could look randomly for various constellations, but is there anything you guys normally do on a "no gear" observation?

Forgive me, I feel kinda silly asking the "what do I look at with my own eyes" type of question, but I'm interested to hear what others look out for on a "no gear" observation night. Try to "tick off" as many constellations as possible etc?

Praying for clear skies!

Regards
