ISS Pass - 23:07:10 - 23:10:27

Recommended Posts

Wow! Just seen my first ISS pass this year - amazing. Started deep in the West as the brightest thing in the sky - flew up to a peak of 49 degrees and maximum brightness of -2.1 (acccording to Heavens Above.

Passed just below Leo and then gradually faded away, I was able to see it down to about 30 degrees I would say, and then had to use averted vision to make out the movement.

I tried an old 8x50 finderscope on it, but couldn't make anything out at all, so stuck with the Mark 1 eyeball.

Amazing - absolutely amazing - WE made that! Yay for the human race

Cheers,

Richie

I was just putting my telescope away after a very short observing session when I spotted it. After a few seconds it faded quite quickly, making me wander if it was an iridium flare briefly. Then it brightened fast so I guess there was some thin cloud up there.

I've seen it a few times this year, the last time being just after Discovery had left (could see both). Tonights pass was probably the brightest I've seen it.
