Dessicant tablets

Recommended Posts

Next on my list of things to do during the months of no true darkness is to refresh the dessicant tablets in my two imaging cameras. They are an Atik 414ex mono and a zwo asi183 mono. My query is how best to do this:

option 1 : bake in the over - 2 hours at 189 degrees?
option 2: heat in a microwave - settings?

Wondering what others have done. Comments and advice appreciated!

My only advice is not to open up the camera unless you are getting condensation. If the seal is intact, the dessicant will not be doing anything anyway. Once opened up, you will automatically be letting moisture in and potentially giving yourself problems getting a perfect seal again.

If you MUST dry them, I have always found the oven more effective than the microwave.

Thanks for the advice - I may leave them alone!
