Is it my screen or is there a grid pattern when you zoom in? I’ve seen this introduced in AS3 when wrong bayer pattern is used, was this a colour cam? 

Lovely phase this, Aristarchus plateau is one of my favourite regions

Yes it is an OSC camera (can't remember if ZWO AIS 290MC or 533MC PRO).

Bayer pattern selection is one of the things I still have to get my head around- what should I be changing?

Not sure what the bayer pattern is for those, easy way to find out is to play the file in SER player… it will tell you what the bayer pattern is by reading the SER header. Saying that though AS3 should also do that and auto debayer the file correctly, but it needs to be set to auto detect in the colour options, have you got that set?
