greenkat
Details of this to the best of my memory as it was a long time ago Taken using a Canon Powershot A40, on max optical zoom, using self timer and exposure of around 1/30th sec, atatched using a digicam adaptor, afocal through the eyepiece on an Orion optics 150mm f6 relector on an old pedastal mount, enhanced in photoshop.I just kept taking photos, adjusting exposure, adjusting focus ect.Ended up with about 100 Rubbish pics but also a few decent ones.Doh, Doh, Doh, just read images have to be taken between competition runing dates , ooops

philsail1
That's a very good shot for "afocal" astrophotography "Greenkat."I do a bit of "afocal" shooting, and I do the same as you have done. Take many shots, all with different settings and focusing adjustments. I only get about one or two decent photos out for perhaps 30 or 40 shots. I use "Picasa" to enhance the shots. With "Afocal" I thinks it is just a case of trying to make notes of the settings, eyepieces etc, which give the best results.Good effort there though!Regards,philsail1
