Cannot post a tiff image in this forum

When I try to post a tiff image it shows up as a white blank in the preview screen so I'm only able to post jpegs which come out badly when I convert them from tiff. I'd be very grateful for any ideas.

jpeg / jpg or png are the preferred file formats. Any other image file format (tiff, bmp or proprietary file format) cannot be displayed in the browser and need to be downloaded and viewed externally.
