Skywatcher EQ6R Pro mount polar scope attachment thingy.

I have a Skywatcher EQ6R Pro mount and I am sure like a lot of you I got pretty fed up with kneeling down to polar align.  I know there are work arounds for this but to me they seem too expensive.  So I decided to do it myself and save some money.  The whole project cost less than £4.00 with spare bits that I never used.

I started off with a spare adapter that came with my laser colimator that I never used.  I bought a cheap wifi spy camera from TEMU.  Link here.  https://www.temu.com/uk/1pc-a9-mini-wifi-camera-smart-home-hd-720p-wireless-ip-camera-infrared-night-vision-video-surveillance-security-mini-camcorders-sports-camera-for-hiking-riding-camping-g-601099520500230.html

I then cut the top lip off the adapter to give me a slightly better field of view.  I used a Dremmel to do this but a hacksaw would work just as well.

I then put some tape on the inside to hold the camera steady.  Then I place the camera inside the adapter.  This is the image I got from my smartphone and this is what it looks like attached.  I have yet to try it out for real but the weather has been pants here in the UK.  One after thought.  If you cut the collar off like I did you get better field of view, but the adapter is a little loose on the scope but it still works fine.  If you leave the collar on, it is a much more snug fit but the field of view is slightly less.
