Was alerted to this by an article in my local paper here in North London. Students at University of London used Mill Hill observatory, which is open to the public, to make first observations of "weird" planet.

ULO News and Events

undergraduates observed transit of the planet hd80606b using a 35-cm Celestron and a 25-cm Meade telescope as part of global observing operation. Shows it can still be done by the mk1 eyeball!!
