Milliways Posted April 26, 2009 Share Posted April 26, 2009 Just got the scope out to look at saturn, fantastic sight as i could clearly see the rings and 3 of its moons Any idea when the rings will appear in all there glory? as they just appear to be a line through the planet at the mo.Cheers. Paul G. Abel Posted May 6, 2009 Share Posted May 6, 2009 Hi Miliiways,Get you're enjoying Saturn, it is quite a remarkable sight in the eyepiece isn't it? As Carol says, the rings will close up as we pass through the ring plane in August, after that they will start to open, this time in the other direction. In a couple of years we shall get a good luck at northern hemisphere!See if you can catch any satellites crossing the disk while you can, the next time the rings will be this edge on will be 12 years time or so!All best wishes,-Paul.
