M27 in RGBHOO

Recommended Posts

Just for yuks, I thought I might have a play at completely reprocessing these two captures and recombine at 50% RGB, 50% HOO for the nebula, with 100% RGB stars.

Started with two separate integrations in Astro Pixel Processor - being especially ruthless with Star Analysis and rejection of sub-standard frames.

Both RGB and HOO integrations were given Light Pollution reduction then Batch Cropped before being registered and saved against each other (this would then allow processing and star extraction in PI without worrying about alignment when recombining ).

Both registered, linear Fits were then processed in PI.

For RGB:-

BlurX

StarX

NoiseX to both Starless and Stars

For HOO:-

BlurX

StarX

NoiseX to Starless (star layer was dumped).

All remaining files were stretched manually using Bill Blanshan’s scripts.

Starless RGB and Starless HOO were then combined into new image at 50% each using PixelMath.

Then used BB’s colour masks (Red and Green) to further stretch the RGBHOO Starless image.

RGBHOO Starless snd RGB Stars were saved as Tiff files and passed over to Photoshop for final processing.

Starless was treated for Gradient removal, local contrast and saturation before treating with Astro Flat Pro.

Star layer was reduced and recombined using Screen.

Final adjustment of channels before saving.
