I'm in Hertfordshire - did anyone else see the lightning tonight?

Amazing - flashes in the sky behind the clouds. Absolutely silent.

Real War of the Worlds stuff...

I believe it's called sheet lightning, but it's not that common in the UK, and tonight's lightshow was truely spectacular.

Nice to have something to watch as the clouds roll in.

Yep , same in Cambridgeshire.

Supposed to be clear - but in fact thick cloud and lightning.

Unfortunately it's been cloudy here since Monday. Visibility was so bad yesterday you couldn't even see anything more than 20 metres away, never mind lightning!
