Zwo ASI120mc-s with Skywatcher Star Discovery 150i

Hi,

I have owned a Skywatcher Star Discovery 150i for almost 2 years and I love it. I would like to take my viewing to the next level by adding a camera to get a better view of mainly lunar and planetary objects.

 

I know the scope cannot achieve prime focus with a dslr camera without either using a barlow or major surgery, but has anyone had any success using a dedicated astro camera such as the Zwo ASI range (specifically the asi120mc-s) with the Star Discovery 150i?

I can't give you an experience-based answer, but an eyepiece-shaped camera such as the mini series has a good chance of placing the sensor at a similar point to an eyepiece.

Thanks for the reply, I think I am correct in saying that the mini camera only comes in the mono version and I would like to use a colour camera (at least to start with) so I think I will just have to chance it and give it a try.
