Fellow Virtuoso GTI mount owners...

Hi all,

 

I recently bought myself a Sky-Watcher 150P Virtuoso GTI and have been loving the views I've managed to have, well between the totally overcast nights!

Anyway, I have a question about the mount. Do any of you know if it possible to partially disassemble the mount for travel? I mean the main vertical part from the horizontal circular base?

I'd love to take it on a plane at some point, and am wondering if its possible, as is?

I ended up emailing Sky-Watcher and they said don't disassemble it. So I guess I'll have to look into alternative tripods/mounts for travel.

You could take the telescope tube off and mount that on a suitable tripod. 

This thread shows the smaller 130p on a tripod, your tube is bigger though.
