Celestron tension screw's (Not sure of proper name)

Recommended Posts

Has anyone replaced or modified the tension screw's (Not sure of proper name) on the Celestron Powerseeker 127 EQ.
These tighten on equatorial shafts to steady/tighten the movement but to me they are not so good 1. they are painted so bind on threads 2. they are hard to tighten enough with fingers and the tip is sharp and will damage the shaft.
I am thinking swap for an Allen Bolt (not painted) easy to tighten, smooth the tip and insert a nylon ball bearing or plug so the bolt will not wear on shaft.
Has anyone else done a modification?
