So google, in its/their infinite wisdom, recommended an article for me. If it wasn't this one it was one similar: https://ksltv.com/512141/utah-man-discovers-supernova/

Current info: https://www.rochesterastronomy.org/supernova.html#2022aaiq

Not so often these days that a human discovers a S/N before some digital survey! It isn't too well placed, crossing the N horizon in late evening. And that glaring Moon!! Just exactly what I like to go for :)

The early hours of the 7th were very clear so I had a go! The S/N is quite close to the core of NGC 5631, a very unspectacular fuzzy, not a great distance from M101. Was about mag 13 when I captured it.

10" Newt, ASI071MC PRO + Optolong LPRO filter. I think it's 14 x 60 sec 2x2 bin. No calibration frames. Haven't used this camera much all year had a bit of trouble with it but did get some usable subs. Stacked in DSS and massaged into usefulness in Photoshop. Quite a crop to lose some vignet and make the darn thing visible!

And for anyone still watching here is an annotated view courtesy of ASTAP.
