C9.25 rotating secondary mirror

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I just got a good deal on a C9.25, because it was dirty. When I was taking it apart, I noticed that the secondary mirror moving around in the corrector. Obviously this has to be fixed, or collimation will be lost as the scope moves around the sky.

So I tried to tighten the retaining ring. NOPE! It doesn't move! So I tried loosing it. Same problem. The ring is on TIGHT!

Does anyone have any tips on how to loosen it? Heat maybe?

If I can't tighten it, I'll just have to glue it to the corrector.

Thanks

How do you make the video smaller?!

Wow, props to celestron! "Get a pair of plastic grippers and unscrew it. Sometimes they are just on really tight".

And then they told me how to correctly reassemble the OTA again (I already knew this). I thought they would be all "NOPE! You have taken the scope apart, so now we can't help you!". Proper service like 👍
