Thanks to everyone again for your warm welcome. I've never met a friendlier bunch of people. I joined a forum when I first started in astronomy (2001/02) but nobody even replied to my first post, so I never posted anything on that forum again!! It was Steve at FLO that suggested I come here and I'm glad I did.

Hi PP, At the moment I'm not intending to do a lot with the AE1. It's needs a bit of TLC and it may take early retirement (I've had it for sometime now). It has served me well with slide film, especially on a transit of Mercury, when coupled with my Helios 90mm f10 achro. I like my Nikon 4300 which is a lot lighter and I can quickly get rid of the failures. Good luck with your Nikon F601 and hope we can see some of your pics.
