NGC6888 - Crescent Nebula - 7 Hours in HOO & SHO

Recommended Posts

Fooling around in Astro Pixel Processor & Photoshop with just shy of 7 hours worth of Crescent captured over three sessions.

This time it's processed with separate star layer/starless versions but I've also got some with 60% stars waiting to play with.

SHO was a bit of a hack as I never actually created even a false SII channel, just mucked around with a copy of the Ha channel.

Still need to capture some RGB stars for all of these, which hopefully will improve things a bit.

Not very fond of the star removal in APP but it's early days. Wish I could use starlet++ but I don't use Pixinsight and my new pc is a Mac M1 so no chance right now.

Hey ho!

Sure, download it and unzip it.

https://starnetastro.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/StarNetv2CLI_MacOS.zip

open a terminal window and cd to that location.

and then run the following:

chmod 777 starnet++

xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine libtensorflow_framework.2.dylib

xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine libtensorflow.2.dylib

xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine starnet++

you should now be able to run. I notice the example is wrong filename, so if you want to try that, do

mv rgb_test.tif rgb_test5.tif

chmod 777 run_starnet.sh

./run_starnet.sh

If you find that you can't run shell scripts, either don't worry and just use the command line:

./starnet++ in.rif out.tif

or, control panel, security, privacy and under full disk access add terminal

Its not optimised for the M1's AI subprocessor, so will just run on the CPU but it works well enough.

That ‘s great! Many thanks. I’m going to sort that out tomorrow. Can’t wait to get starnet++ back! 😊👍

Worked like a dream! 🙂

Thanks very much for that, saved me digging around on the web for about two days!

Now I've got to go back and reprocess my last few images properly.

Clear skies!

Tony
