Images worthy of stacking?

Newb question incoming!!!!!

So i have been out on a nice clear night (yes, they do happen occasionally) and been snapping away at Andromeda with my Olympus DSLR behind a ZS73.

I come in to download the images i have taken, but how do i know if they are worth stacking or not? They all contain a faint smudge that is definitely M31, but i'm not sure the focus is good to go.

I get that if there were any interrupted by cloud formations or satellite passes, these would get binned.  Will try to attach a sample image.......

First thing is to look at the stars.  Good ones are small and round, which yours seem to be.

It's quite normal to see only the inner galactic core. If you saw much more than that, most of the image would be over exposed. Do you know about stretching images in post processing?

Stacking is quick and free so I would suggest experimenting with how far down the 'quality food chain' to go.

Cheers Olly,

'Stretching' is on the research list..... DSS downloaded, and will stack what I've got.
