I had a look at this today, the first solar outing I've had in a while and having become accustomed to seeing not a lot in white light over the last few years due to the solar minimum any kind of white light action still feels like a nice surprise.

I had a go at measuring the big spot's diameter (penumbra) with a microguide eyepiece and also by timing it drifting off the edge of the field of view. I made it about 52,000km across with the microguide and about 38,000km across by drifting. Not very accurate then I guess, even if I managed to do the maths correctly which isn't certain, but it's good fun to try and work it out. I think drifting is likely to be closer, I wasn't using tracking which makes the microguide tough to use.
