Celestron mount SLT gears

Recommended Posts

Hi folks   good evening to you all🙂

plastic/ nylon gears on the  Celestron SLT mounts and general looking after & servicing  is it ok to apply some grease on the gear teeth?  and what type of grease would that be?  my cousin mentions silicone but he's not 100% sure🤔   any help would be most appreciated.

 thanks

David

White lithium grease tends to be the most commonly used lubricant (I vaguely remember reading something about silicon creep and that it's not a good one to use)

If you are going that far to take apart the mount etc I'd also highly recommend removing the current chinese grease / glue as the standard stuff used is very, very thick!
