Pulsar Pier and Plate.

Recommended Posts

I recently got the pulsar pier and adapter but I'm not sure how to set it up. I've tried asking elsewhere and have been contacting FLO but the communication is slow. I don't know if I have mounted this plate properly. The problem is that it doesn't come with a bolt to mount the wedge. I know it's an M12 but I don't know how long I need the bolt to be and how I'd measure for it. I have the foundation poured and cured and soon I intend to bolt the pier into it. Although I'm unsure how I should go about that. The foundation is square and roughly in line with the house. The foundation points roughly between NW and N. I don't know if I should have the whole pier point north of just mount the wedge north. I really don't know. I would really appreciate some guidence. I'm very poor when it comes to DIY, I'm not labour minded.

OK for a start that looks like an EQ6 pier top as the centre is quite shallow but in any case that should match the underneath of your mount. The screw hole nearest that is for the Azimuth peg, if your tripod one is removable it should fit otherwise a short length of thread slightly longer that the peg on the tripod to allow it to be screwed in.

The allen bolts, with the washers in, are normally completely countersunk, the washer would be used with a nut (if needed) on the other end of the allen headed bolt.

To secure the mount, using the central thread, I'd suggest a medium/short M12 bolt that you can fit in the access hole comfortably. If long enough you can then use the black star knob to tighten up against the underneath of the pier adapter. It does not need to be a bolt, you can just use M12 threaded rod but the bolt head makes it easier to screw in before tightening.
