My First Moon Pic but with probs - Help !

Swamp Gas ?

Recommended Posts

OK ,

I want to to turn my hand to some Lunar/ Planetary photography.

I'm only a point and click guy at best - I know nothing of iso , white balance and all these "photographers" terms but as I was given a Minolta A1 Digital camera I thought I might try my luck.

I bought a simple step ring to connect a Baader Hyperion 13mm ( I have the 2 fine tuning rings as well ) EP to the cam but am having probs with vinnetting ( is that how you spell it ? - is it even the right term ?).

This is a first attempt that I have tried to "enhance" in photo shop by adjusting the brightness / contrast and have cropped to remove A LOT of the black tunnel effect.

moon1-1.jpg

It is the best of about 100 photos taken that night.

How do I focus properly when all I have to go on is a small 2 x 1 inch screen or thereabouts and how do I get rid of the "tunnel" effect "

What cam settings are recommended for such photography ?

My scope is an 8" manual push and shove reflector - so long exposure is out - hence why I am concentrating on Lunar imaging.

Any help would be most appreciated.
