Question re Celestron SE 5 and 6

My question is, are either or both of these scopes, with the mount but without the tripod, small enough to go on a plane as a carry-on?

I used to have a Nexstar 5 which was a predecessor of the 5SE. Without it's tripod and with the tube pointing down towards the base it was a very compact package indeed - I would say about 18 inches by 8 inches or therabouts.
