First time Jupiter using an IR Pass Filter

Hi,

Last night (or rather, this morning), I imaged Jupiter for the first time using an IR Pass Filter (685nm). Jupiter was at 20 degrees elevation and there was a lot of moisture in the air.

I used the filter with my asi224mc. It gave a lot more detail than the normal images I had taken with a UV-IR cut filter. The filter itself is from Svbony and only cost 15 euro which was a bargin. Even so,  I think I will be upgrading soon. I understand a mono camera would also give better results I think.

Equipment: Meade 2080 8 inch SCT, Zwo asi224mc, 1.5x Barlow, Svbony 685nm IR Pass filter

5700 images, best 10 percent used. PIPP, Autostekkert!3, Registax6, Gimp.

Thanks for looking and clear skies

Peter

Some nice detail coming out there. Well done.

Meade 2080...is that the early model from the 1980s?

Thanks!

Yes, my one dates from the mid 1990s. It was originally on an lx-10 mount but I bought it when it was already de-forked .
