Guest
I'm looking at buying a ZWO camera which has an M42 thread in front of the sensor. If I wanted to put a filter there can I use a standard 1.25 inch filter?
fwm891
Short answer No. The M42 thread (T thread) is used to attach the camera to a lens/telescope. You will need an adapter of some sort to take a 1.25" filter. I used an old cheap 1¼" barlow with the lens removed to do that. They have a M42 T thread at one end and a 1¼" filter thread at the other...
jacko61
If you're looking at buying a brand new ZWO camera then they all come with a variety of adaptors including a T2-1.25" reducer. As an example on the FLO website click on 'what's in the box'. ZWO ASI 533MC-PRO USB 3.0 Cooled Colour Camera | First Light Optics Graeme
