Buying an old/out-of-production 2nd hand telescope

Recommended Posts

Hello,
I'm thinking of dipping my toes back into the astronomy bug after many years of being out...

I've got a chance at an old 2nd hand Megrez 72D apo, but I'm worried that the telescope, even if looks fine right now, might simply be old and I might have difficulty finding attachments I may want down the road - finder, matching field flattener, etc...

Is there such a thing as "too old" for a scope? Or as long as it's in good shape (in storage for years and years) am I worried about nothing?

Thanks,

Robert.

The Megrez 72 is still a very popular scope and get snapped up right away when one cones on the market. Will be no problem getting accessories for it,.

If it is indeed OK with good clean unmarked optics and the focuser is undamaged and works OK then it will be a good scope.
