Fixing Ioptron CEM70 to concrete pier

Recommended Posts

Morning all.

I'm about to pull the trigger on an Ioptron CEM70, and want to establish how to fit it to my "Todmorden" style concrete pier.

I currently have an Altair Astro Pier Adapter fitted, for my Celestron mount; AA say it fits various Ioptron mounts, but does not mention the CEM70.

Various other sites say I'll need an Ioptron Pier Adapter, which I'm sure would be fine, but may not be nescessary?

Is there any reason why I can't simply sink a couple of anchors into the top of the concrete, and bolt the mount direct to it?

TIA

Steve

Just heard back from Altair, and whilst the CEM70 isn't mentione in the list of compatible mounts for the AA Pier Adapter, they tell me that the CEM70 is the same footprint as the CEM60, so should fit OK. I'll report back if it doesn't 😉
