M42 my first 'project'

This is my first project collecting data consistently over a few nights.

1h 24mins from a mix of 20x10s 20x15s a lot of 30s and a few 2min subs all ISO 800

20 darks for each exposure length 

Canon EOS250d and Redcat on a Star Adventurer

Processed in Photoshop and Lightroom stacked in DSS

Very nice, with amazing detail in the core area.

I might suggest that if you pull the black point back a bit you may reveal yet more of the surrounding nebulosity.

Did you take flats as well?

Thank you that is kind because one is never sure when submitting their first picture how it looks.

I was wondering about the black point. I thought I might have clipped it a bit too much. I will try that today.

I haven't tried using flats much as I have only had success once with them using my phone as a light source, but the Redcat is too big to use my phone. I must try with a tablet and t-shirt though
